Italian data protection watchdog accuses ChatGPT of privacy violations.

Italy's data protection authority has accused OpenAI of violating privacy laws in the region, citing breaches of the E.U. GDPR provisions. The Garante per la protezione dei dati personali will consider the progress of the ad-hoc task force set up by the European Data Protection Framework in its final determination.

OpenAI has been accused of violating privacy laws by collecting personal data and collecting age information. The Italian DPA has given OpenAI 30 days to respond. Concerns include exposing sensitive information and inappropriate content. OpenAI's ChatGPT has been found to leak private conversations, including login credentials, of unrelated users. Google's Bard chatbot also had a bug in its sharing feature, exposing sensitive information. OpenAI claims its practices align with GDPR and other privacy laws.

Apple Warns Against Proposed U.K. Law

Apple is concerned about proposed amendments to the U.K. Investigatory Powers Act, which could give the government unprecedented power to secretly veto privacy and security updates to its products and services. The UK Home Office claims these changes are aimed at improving intelligence services' ability to respond to national security threats. The amendment requires technology companies to notify the government of any technical changes that could affect their lawful access capabilities. Apple has previously stated it would prefer not to compromise users' privacy and security.
